As the winner of the ART India, and the Visual Arts Gallery, India Habitat Centre’s Promising Artist Award 2008, Ashish Ghosh was awarded an opportunity to avail a residency in Switzerland to commemorate 60 years of Indo-Swiss friendship by Pro Helvetia- Swiss Arts Council.

New Delhi - based artist M. Pravat is an alumnus of the M S University of Baroda in India. His images can be seen to convey a message of art overcoming order with spilled and overlaying painted forms on top of architectural drawings.

Artist:  Anuradha Pathak

A visual artist practising interactive sculpture installation (non digital) and painting, Anuradha Pathak shifted base from Kolkata to New Delhi few years back. Taking the form of installations and performative practices that generate a dialogue between the work and the spectator, Anuradha's work pushes the boundaries of contemporary practice to make it more inclusive.

Artist: Tobias Hitch

Over the last decade, independent freelance photographer Tobias Hitsch has worked on self-assigned long-term projects in East Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, in particular the Gaza Strip. He came to India first in 2007, travelling to several cities across the country, the last one being  Kolkata. In 2010, the photographer wishes to deepen his view and knowledge about INdia and will continue his trend of taking images in a more metaphorical way, beyond photography as provider of information.

Artist: Cristina Galbiati 
Art Form: Performing Arts
In 1999, Cristina Galbiati, together with Ilija Luginbühl, created Trickster Teatro, a research project at the crossroads with different art forms. Beside its artistic works, the experimental vocation of the project Trickster Teatro took shape in the creation of la casa del tabacco, a space for creation and experimentation in the village of Novazzano, few kilometres from the Italian-Swiss border and base of the Trickster Teatro project. Trickster Teatro has toured in many international theatre festivals in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Cristina has developed an interest in Indian classical theatre, deepened by her regular research in Kerala.

Artist:  Anurupa Roy
Art Form: Puppet Theatre 
A professional puppeteer, Anurupa Roy studied puppet theatre at the Dramatiska Institutet at the University of Stockholm, Sweden, La Scoula Della Guaratelle (School of Traditional Glove Puppetry) in Naples, Italy and Institute International de la Marionette, France. She was bestowed the 'Ustad Bismilla Khan Yuva Puraskar 2007', a national award awarded by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, an autonomous body funded by the Ministry of Culture, India for her contribution to puppet theatre.

Emanuel Geisser

Swiss artist Emanuel Geisser, an installation and video artist, studied in Geneva and Hamburg and lives in Berlin. He is well known for his peculiar, futuristic short film loops. During his stay in India he will be travelling across many cities collecting impressions and materials and shooting footage for his forthcoming body of work.

Composer, performer, curator in the fields of experimental music, sound art / sonic art, Manfred’s performances articulate the relation of sound and silence, in which the space between the reduced sounds come to the fore. His work actualises time and space by letting the world’s natural abundance appear. He will dedicate his stay in Delhi to the practice of field research of the environmental sound.

Baptist Coelho received his M.A. from BIAD, UK. His practice merges personal research with the collaboration from people of various cultures, geographies and histories. These interactions begin the process of investigation, questioning and interpretation. Baptist employs the use of atmospheric stimuli and residual work, such as found objects, to engage the participant into the story and allow them an interactive space to reflect on their own surroundings and predicaments. Each project incorporates various media such as: video, sound and architectural installation, photography, public-art, performance, found objects and site-specific work.

Claudia Rüegg is a soloist and chamber musician who performs in concerts across Europe and North America.Her broad repertoire includes en emphasis on 20th century music. Rüegg works as an interpreter often in an interdisciplinary context together with artists, dancers and film makers. Claudia Rüegg is the producer of „forum andere musik“, a series of contemporary music, arts and literature in Switzerland (www.forumanderemusik.ch).

A postgraduate from the Institute Of Fine Arts, University Of Dhaka, Bangladesh, Abdus Salam received the Commonwealth Arts And Crafts Awards 2000. An upcoming and promising artist from Bangladesh, Abdus was also awarded a residency by Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Japan and the Jucar Gorges Rural Institrute of Arts and Viewpoint of Jucar, Spain.

Hyderabad based artist, Om Soorya’s recent works deal with the issue of urbanization. Urbanization is not avoidable. How we take care of our depleting ecological system is what matters. As a painter he gives attention to both visual sensibility and content. The surroundings of Hyderabad, where he lives and works, influences the geographical space in Om’s work.

Nina Weber makes ink drawings that are very dense and ornamental. She always draws from nature. Very often, ornaments (culture) and organic structures (nature) mix. The borders between humans and animals are blurred. More recently, Nina Weber has started to work with oil colour.
